The 404 was a gas, early '60's vintage, ~35-36 HP at the PTO. I think it had a two-stage PTO at least as an option, good tractor in general. I have seen them go for $3,000 to $7,000 (this was overpriced-industrial). smokes and knocking not good, especially is the smoke is blue, could need an overhaul. a grand sounds like a good deal the way it is, i wouldnt give much more than that, if it needs engine work.
