I used the first generation Chrysler electronic ignition box and dual ballast resistor. They are normally fired by a magnetic trigger,but work well if the pickup lead (grey with black tracer)is grounded by the points
I chose to use point triggering as they will fire at near zero rpm while the magnetic trigger quits at somewhere around 50 rpm. To ground the pickup lead with point trigger I had to retime the distributor and reindex the rotor so the rotor tip and cap terminals are in the right relationship when the points close. The last one I did this to was a JD 4020. The stock ignition is very weak and the electronic conversion with it's much hotter spark made a very different tractor out of it. Easy starting in cold wet conditions,no plug fouling and more lugging power on less fuel.
