Good advice RAB
My brother did that on his old JD50 when the hole got rusted too big..
Then he glued a 4" X 4" piece of 3/16 thick rubber on the inside of the old hole with silicone. JD is still having to earn it's keep so it didn't have to be pretty.
Been a couple of years now and the tire is still up and good.
