I have been running an M14 with a 46inch blade off the pto of a 1520 John Deere. Tractor came up with a transmission problem so it is a dandy power unit now, you just hook up the shaft and you are ready to saw, trust me pulleys, belts, bearings etc are not usually cheap and need more attention than that pto shaft. I have a rope tied to the foot feed so the engine comes alive when you need it. The M14 doesnt move fast enough to actually need all those teeth, either. Each tooth takes about the same horsepower whether it is just taking a tiny cut, or its engineered maximum, so, I took out every other tooth and replaced them with old teeth ground off. The saw does much better with bigger chips, the saw stays sharp longer, easier to sharpen, and half price to replace teeth. I would recomend a steel frame for your saw, that wood will move enough to cause problems. Mine is a portable set up, just drop it and get it level and be sawing in 15 minutes. Good luck!
