If you want a great bird dog with lots of natural ability and a dog that will be a member of the family, not kenneled away from the family - look at the Vizsla. Smaller than both the Shorthair and Weim, more gracefull and intelligent than the Weim, not as hard headed as the Shorthair - will work closer to you also. The Vizsla has been around in Europe for centuries, and here since the 1950's. In Europe used for both birds and fur, (including deer and boar). Also once introduced to water they love to swim and retrieve nicely out of water. The Vizsla is the first breed to become a quad AKC Champ - (same dog got field championship, show championship, obedience championship, and agility championship, and believe she is working on her tracking championship.) You will find many Vizsla's who are dual Amature and Field Champs - also quite a few have Sr and Master Hunter Certificates. They are very loyal and protective of the family, and love to sit by you, in your lap, and sleep on the bed. They train quite easy, and love to hunt all day. Have had 5 of these dogs so far, would not trade for another breed. Jim
