Jason, you had the problem you experienced because those timing marks are indicatig ZERO advance, those are NOT marks for the running timing. Farmers never had timing lights years ago. The timing marks should line up when the impulse on the magneto trips, or the points in the battery igntion distributor open when turning the engine slowly by hand.
