Have an axle shaft here that has a groove in it from the former seal wearing into it. I know that I can put on one of those "sleeves" over the axle but being a bit on the cheap side (and always wanting to do things the haywore repair way) I was wondering how one of the epoxy fillers (Devcon, JB Weld, Liquid Steel) would work. I would sandblast the groove, then apply the filler and machine it smooth. Would this stand up over time (the tractor will have very limited use). I can always get to it later if it doesn't work since it is the outer grease seal and the seal is in the outer removeable housing.
