Doug, You've done a good job of troubleshooting so far. I would take it that you have a wire diagram that you used to verify the hook up as you checked continuity. Did you ensure all of your connection and ground points were clean? If you can start the charge by hand, closing the contacts of the regulator, that pretty much identifies the problem to the regulator. We have a automotive/ag/industrial electrical repair shop that will test and repair genny's, starters, alternators. if you take your voltage regulator in with yiour generator they will test and adjust the regulator as well. Perhaps you have a similar repair service local to you. I've ask at some of the chain automotive stores, unfortunately "old technology " is beyond the scope of their abilities. Have you checked at various engine rpm's ie. at low rpm/idle, mid rpm/900-1100, high 1600+rpm? Did you repolarize the genny after you changed from negative to positive ground? You may want to check your coil polarity to ensure it installed correctly( it will not affect charging but will affect sparkie strength). Hope I could help some, if you continue to have problems repost on the 9N,2N,8N forum. ATW/WA

When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and
