Their right chris.. The plastic shield should not be turning! get some chain, and drill a holl on the top end (tractor end) and strap the chain up to some part of the tractor. i clip mine to the lift arm, next to PTO shaft. That'll stop the problem, the other recccomendation I could make, is maybe you cold mow earlier before things get so deep. I fiind that even though I have to mow more often, the mowing goes alot fatser with less problems that way, plus if there is debris in the grass, you'll be able to see it before you hear it, as it thrashes
