You're partly right, but it's a whole lot easier to remove the fuel tank along with the hood. The rear tank support is attached to the block with 2 bolts. I leave the sediment bowl and the 3-way valve attached to the tank.
The radiator is held by a couple of 5/8 bolts going up through the frame to the bottom tank.
