New Holland TC30

I bought a brand new New HOLLAND TC30 last year,havent used it very much I went to bush hog with it the first time and when I was blowing it off I noticed grass was wrapped around the 4wd shaft comeing from the front of the trasmission. I cleand the grass off and I notised that the grass wraped so tight that it got between the seal, I called New Holland about it and they said its under warrenty but wont cover it because it was grass that made it leak they also told me that I could fix this myself that it was easy to put on a new seal. Has anyone had this problem with their TC30? Is it really easy to fix? If so how can I fix it myself I dont know much about macanics,If im starting to have this type trouble this early im really scared that I might have made a big mistake of buying this tractor all my family has owned for the last 50+ years are John Deeres and VERY FEW PROBLEMS WITH THEM and they where worked hard every day. Is the TC30 anygood? Thanks
