The 900 is the series number. Within the 900 series were a couple of different models. The 960 is the model number. The 6 in the middle of the model number tells you it has a 3 point hitch, 5 speed transmission with live pto through a dual clutch. There has been some head-scratching about the "-5" that appears after some of the 960 models. I've finally come to the conclusion that the -5 means it came out of the factory with the optional wide front end. Standard equipment on that tractor is a tricycle with dual tires. Another suffix you might see is '-1' which is supposed to mean a single tire tricycle. However, there have been enough front end swaps over the years that the suffixes don't seem to mean a lot anymore. Lots of tricycle fronts have been swapped to wide fronts and vice versa.
