I did the same as Chris only I found a super heavy duty 48" mower deck at the BONEYARD for free...zerk fittings on the spindles and just perfect for a new 8 HP Briggs...adjustable wheels fore and aft (my design)...lever to tighten drive belt. Probably as good as any and just for the price of the Briggs, some steel, wheels and some time. Next is flywheel with starter teeth, alternator and starter and battery and ignition switch.
