The only knowledge that I have about painting the insides of the engine casting... is for the purpose of sealing the pores of the castiron, so that any dirt and grit will not lodge in the pores and will be moved to the oil filter where it can then be taken out of the engine. On racing and high performance engines, painting the inside of the block is a part of "blueprinting" the engine. I have been told that a good enamel high-temp paint is used for this... but I do not know for sure. I have also been told that the paint is baked on somehow.
