5w-30wt in White gas engine??

Hi, I have a 2-63-15 White Mighty Hoe tractor, it is a 1973 model with a Waukashaw gas engine 6 banger. Can I use 5w-30wt oil in it as it is pretty cold here in the northwest. I had 20w-50wt in it from the summer and it would not even turn over at -10 Degrees. Usually it does not get that low but thought I should use a lighter engine oil. Thanks for any replies.
