I have an 03 2500hd duramax with 23,000 on it and I get 18 mpg doin 80 empty to work. It will leave a 7.3 ford in the dirt it is the hardest running thing I have owned. My buddy has a new ford but can't keep it out of the shop long enough to find out which one is faster. All the people I work with are real upset I drive a chevy. I guess it's cause I work at ford and build their trucks. In my opinion the 454 won't hold a candle to the duramax.
