The RV stores sell a solenoid that LOOKS like a FORD solenoid but they are built for continuous duty and only draw an amp or so when energized. I think I gave 12 dollars for the last one I bought. It's set up so that the truck's charging system is connected to the trailer battery when the ignition key is on (10 ga. wire with 20amp circuit gbreaker from battery on truck thru the trailer light cord plug to the trailer battery) for charging. This works well for my camping trailer; on the equpment trailer which has an electric winch like yours I have welder plugs on the rear bumper to hook both truck and trailer batteries together for loading/unloading with the winch. I'm using #5 welding cable for this circuit.
