Most any question about your 2N can be answered on the Ford 9N, 2N, 8N discussion board on this site. Just look at the top of the page where it says "Hop to". Click the pull down menu and find the Ford N-board.

To answer your question, here is a link to a very nice website showing how to tell the different model years apart. The main method to determine year is the serial number which can be hard to read.

Also, you will want an ORC (over-running coupler) on your pto shaft to safely operate a bushhog. Without an ORC, the inertia of the spinning hog blades will push your little 2N when you push on the clutch. Good way to wipe out fence posts, wife's rose bush, car door, etc.
