Phil Heisey, the Cockshutt guru, had this handy tip in an issue of "The Cockshutt Quarterly"- make a little "standpipe" that fits in the top of the sediment bulb fixture- usually a 1" length of the appropriate size copper tubing is the easiest- then you will be getting the gas from an inch above the bottom of the tank, so the crud and scale can accumulate harmlessly. Once in awhile, run the tractor out of gas and unscrew the sediment bulb fixture, rinse the crud out the bottom, and reinstall.
