Well, if it's an ONAN 2 cylinder, and you have absolutely determined that the starter is bad, you have to remove the front air shroud (the big piece of tin that surrounds the flywheel) in order to get access to the two bolts that hold the starter on. And in order to get the shroud off, you'll likely have to loosen and/or remove some other stuff. On my Case Ingersoll you have to pretty much tear the front of the tractor off to get at it. Before you do all of this, test your starter by taking a pair of jumper cables and connect the ground to the frame of the tractor and touch the positive lead to the stud protruding out of the starter. If the starter IS bad it won't crank. If the starter is bad and you do remove it, make sure you set the gear lash between the starter bendix and the flywheel correctly upon re-installation, or you'll have other problems. This adjustment is made by putting the starter on loosely, and then pivoting it (one bolt hole in the starter is slotted) to set the gears so they mesh properly. Hope you don't have an Onan on it....
