Hey Mark - Give a holler one the Oliver forum, lots of knowledgeable folks over there. I will take a stab at this and I am sure others will correct my mistakes. I only putter around on my 550 Dsl at this time while looking for a 1650. a. Hyd. systems are different 50 series is an open center system the 55 series is closed center b. The 55 series has hydraulic brakes & PTO. c. 50's will more than likely have a two speed hydra-power and 55's have a 3 speed hydraul shift as do some late 50's d. 55 series has a rubber mounted platform e. 55's have a longer dash. I am sure both rigs have the same engine and HP. Pretty sure trans are also the same. Like I said try the Oliver forum, more complete and accurate info than I can provide.
