Bolens Gear Oil Question

We are changing the hydralic/gear oil on our Bolens G272 tractor. The manual calls for SAE 80W gear oil. The only kind of gear oil we've been able to find is 80W-90 and one called Universal which says it works in all tractors. Would the 80W-90 or the Universal be all right to use? What does the 90 stand for in the 80W-90?
