I agree that truck prices have gone nuts. I have a 72 Chev 3/4T that I put a chev 402 big block in. Took the 350 out and put the 402 and TH400 in. Not many changes had to be made. The motor mounts (Front)and Trans mount had to be changed. The pwr steering pump has an external tank that works fine. The rest was all bolt on changes. I got the engine out of another 72 that was junked out and I rebuilt it and the trans. I put a .500in lift cam in it, new lifters and and Edelbrock performer manifold and carb. Used the stock exhaust manifolds to make duals. Has plenty of power to pull my Farmal and get 8mpg(Ugh). The only bad part. Has a 4:10 rear end. Needs overdrive. Have been real satisfied with the change. Lots of luck on your decision. My 2 cents.
