stripped teeth on 801 hydraulic gears

My name is Hal Kravcik. I live in NW wisconsin and own a ford 801d select o speed tractor,
1961 (871d - <>144925<>). A few years back it stopped running. I
was on it when it quit. It made a winding down sound like a steele
baseball card on a bike spoke. I just got motivated and took the front
end apart cause I always assumed it was the timing chain or gear..I dont
know what this engine has. When I took off the radiator I gave the main
pulley a turn with a wrench and heard the same wind down sound coming
from under the hydraulic pump.(located on the right side (sitting on the tractor) on the engine block).Sure enough when I took it off the gear inside the block (not the pump itself) had the teeth all
stripped off. It doesnt move when the main pullley is turned. Do I have to split the tractor?..God I hope not. I
must do the work myself. I'm not even sure why the engine wont turn over
because of that one gear. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
