I go strictly by the hour for mowing and raking. If I get in a rough field and need to shift down a gear or 2 I want to be paid for that. I charge $40/hr. for mowing with a 9' sickle mower and normally cut 6-7 acres/hr. I charge $30/hr for raking with a double hitched side delivery rake setup. $7/bale for first 20 round bales, $6/bale for additional bales. .55/bale for small squares dropped on the ground. Might sound high but I've done this for a long time and I'm not getting rich. I use old equipment but keep it in top notch shape. Hope this helps.
