Brush hogging is not finish mowing but,the blades should have a degree of sharpness. Usually this means a rather steep angle and not too thin of a cutting edge so that when an obstruction such as a rock or stump is hit the edge will not curl or be nicked badly. Being too dull causes the grass to be shreaded or torn off and leaves a poor looking mow job.
