I bought a mower off a guy and he was showing me how he started it. He juiced up the wire to the magneto which is actually a ground to turn the engine off. One new mag. The two wire your talking about are probably the generator. If you go to the Briggs engine site and your engine is new enough you can get the wiring sch online. If you write them they'll send you it. Once I got one I found out that when your local service guy looks up a part, say the mag, all the electrical components listed on that page are wired together showing the schematic.
