The "clip" when used with a hydraulic cylinder is fine as there is "no continious flow".
The hydraulic motor is continous flow so it's ok to clip the closed center tractor control supplying the closed center motor valve.
The clip with an open supplying a closed is not desirable.
The clip with a closed supplying an open may at least work but don't count on any other tractor hydraulics working properly.
