That's fantastic! I had 7 weights off the cow (basis cost of $600 that year). Fed them 110 days with an adv of 2.84 so added 300 pounds. Sold them for the same $ per pound I had in them ($85/cwt). Gave me a gain of $250 per head. Subtracted off feed cost of 3000# at .045 per pound on a 10:1 feed conversion and that ate up half of the profit. Down to $125. Take off another $15 for vaccines and wormer. Looking good at $110, then take off a little hay, say $10 a head. Down to $100. Then I took off gas (extra 4 trips to the farm a week, plus hauling feed, etc), labor, propane to thaw water (and water), interest on the money tied up, and depreciation/upkeep on the facilities and no wonder I didnt seem to be making any money. Economies of scale were my weakness, a 100 head wouldnt have taken much more except feed and improved the bottom lime a lot. 500 even better. Good luck with it!
