Most of the Gas engine farm equipment (swathers, combines etc) with Ford GM or Chrysler ind engines used belt drive governors(usually Roof or Hoof). Most were used in a limiting speed instead of a true variable speed application,so do not control well at low to mid speed unliss you use a high ratio in the belt drive(50-100% overdrive. Most are a two weight governor, but the four weight models work better at low rpm. You can tell the number of weights in a unit by turning the shaft (shaft horizontal)slowly with the governor throttle lever backed away from the weights. as the shaft rotates, the weights will click as they fall. Two clicks per turn=two weight. Some two weight models have the carrier for four weights which can be added from another parts governor. I think someone posted earlier that the Northern surplus catalog had new surplus belt drive Hoff governors for $20-30.
