Might I suggest that he looks for an ejector pin for plastic molds in the out side diameter needed and grind the grooves in a spin index. The outside of the ejector pin will be hardened and designed to slide back and forth. They come in many diameters. If I was making one from scratch, I would use pre hard H-13 tool steel. turn it out and finish grind it in a spin index with fluid. Pre hard H-13 is what we use for over size and odd sized ejector sleeves. We have some still running that we made in 1989. We have made severl hundred thousand parts with that mold.
