Should clarify and say work hard and work smart. My Grand Father was one of the hardest workers I have ever seen or heard of. Couldn't manage his money or make a deal that profited on.
Hard worker or not he didn't get a any respect for always nearly being broke.
When he died all he had was some gov't pension. And the house his son's had bought him 30 years ago when they took over the farm. Not much to show for 60 years of blood sweat and tears.
