Char lynn power steering system

I just installed a Char-Lynn power steering motor on my Farmall 300 and since I wasn"t able to buy the Char-Lynn pump I installed a power steering pump off a wrecked Dodge Caravan. The system doesn"t work. The pump puts out plenty of pressure so I don"t know if the motor is bad(the person I bought it from said he saw it work on a tractor)or if the pump isn"t adequate on either pressure or flow or both. Have any of you people used an automotive pump on a system like this?
