Novice needs help with toplink

Have bought my first implement, a 6 ft 3 pt blade. My tractors do not have top links. COuld someone tell me what I need to look for when buying a toplink for the 3 pt? Is it pretty much dummy proof or do I need to buy a specific size? Are top links specific to my tractor or are they universal?
