I don't know IH stuff very well, but I thought that the 434 was more like 40 hp...? If so, it should handle about 15KVA gen fairly well. It could probably run a 25 KVA, but that is too much for continous duty. The 15 should be plenty for any home. Some farms still get by with 15. Onan seems to make a fairly good alternator type generator. I think going to cummins.com will give you more info. HTH.
