It really depends on the tractor. IF you're talking about an N series tractor (9N, 2N, 8N, NAA) then your answer is "no" for the 9N and 2N (because they are splash lubricated by the transmission... there's no bottom to their steering gear box), but "yes" for the 8N and NAA (and possibly, even probably, for the 100 series), as they have an independent steering gear.
