Was mowing with my 8N around the back side of the pond on the new farm. The area was a bit soft and wet, but I wasn't having any problems. Unbeknownst to me, that wasn't soft ground, but a foot thick mat floating on top of a second hidden pond. On my last pass, a front tire punched through, and the tractor drive down into the pond I didn't know was there before I could react. Ended up sitting there so deep that the carburetor was lapping the water. Hip deep on me in mud and water. I spent three days winching and pulling, trying to get that tractor out. I was making progress, but it was mighty slow hard work. A neighbor finally took pity on me and came over with a huge 7000 series Deere and popped me out almost instantly.
