OT Electronic Ballasts

I have bought three of these electronic ballast light fixtures. They run the T-8 bulbs. I been running them on a Intermec rotary timer over the kitchen sink. I have three cycles: breakfast, lunch and evening. They don't seem to last very long. About two years and it's time for a new one. Is anybody having better luck with them? Would a digital timer make a difference? I don't think the Intermec always closes cleanly.
