Ray: You are correct, always install two new batteries in a two battery system at same time. Doesn't matter whether they be 6 volt in series or 12 volt paralell. As these batteries go down you will always have one battery with some use left in it. Use that battery in a single battery system elsewhere.

I ran my Farmall 300 as much as 3 years on the one good battery coming out of 560 or 656 diesels ( 2-6 volt in series). Did the same thing with 2-12 coming from John Deere and 6.2 Chevy. Used those in my car.
