Howdy folks,

Well, I was planning on reducing my wood stack to a pile of split wood over the next few days but a very nice surprise has come to Southern Ohio. The television weatherfakes' flurries and snow showers have turned into an outright mini blizzard. We have over an inch on the ground with winds kickin up to 30mph and it's still comin down. I normally do my own forecasting since I have a degree in that but since yesterday was sunday, church and visiting relatives took that time up. This should have been easy for them to see. A: there's an upper level storm lagging behind the surface storm that just passed yesterday. That gives you the lift for your precip. B: there is plenty of low-level moisture to supply the snow. Storms in the north have a much higher snow to water ratio so less moisture can make more snow. C: with the surface pressure changing so quickly and the jet stream (high upper level winds) right over us we have more lift and higher surface winds. Oh well, it's always fun to see the tv folks with pie on their faces. It sure is pretty to see though and I'm kinda enjoyin the unexpected break in the wood splitting.
