we here have done the same thing. let our $$$ say what we baught (and had a bit of bad luck with some bad deere machanics too) but our worst tractor we ever had had to be our 1586 international.. 1979 1586... 7 trips back to the dealer in the first year! and countless trips there after. We baught it because we were scared of the reliablity of a 2745 massey-- that the next owner never spent 1 dime extra on in 10yrs.
