If you're looking for a late 1980s-era Suburban, my recommendation would be to detour anything with a rusty body. They can be a major undertaking to repair. Instead, look for a rust-free southern vehicle. I bought an always-in-GA 1990 Suburban a few years ago and you can still see factory paint markings on the chassis. I wouldn't touch a rusty vehicle now since there are so many non-rusty ones available. If you live in the north, it would be worth a trip to the south or west coast to pick up a vehicle from a used car lot or out of the Truck Trader. They are reasonably priced also.
