A few years back I came across a segment on one of the tractor shows (classic tractor fever?) on RFD-TV which told a story similar to the one you're interested in. From what i can remember an older gentleman who was a John Deere fan met a lady who was an Allis Chalmers fan at different tractor shows. Anyway to make a long story short they were married and now have a shed full of green and orange. This may not be the same story to which you are referring but it sounds pretty close
