Heat for 742B Bobcat?

At the farm I work at, we have a 742B or 743B (unsure and too cold to go out tonight) Bobcat. Is there a way to put a block heater in? Our mechanic claims you can't. If so, what kind and where? Please keep in mind that my boss is very cheap. If you put a heater in the radiator hose, will that work? Or will it only heat the radiator since it's at the top? The glow plugs work, but we still have to put the torpedo heater on to start on these cold mornings. It's a 4 cyl. diesel, Mitsubishi?? Thanks for all the advice! There are many creative and smart people here.
