Our first four wheeler was a Polaris 425 magnum and it came right out of the factory with synthetic oil, 0-40 I believe. you did not say what brand of wheeler you have, but I have always heard that you should not use synthetic oil in a unit that has a wet clutch, like a Honda ( which we have now) because it may cause the clutch to slip. I have also heard that you should not use synthetic in an engine that does not get used at least once a month, as after 30 days it offers no rust protection. The main advanteges of synthetic is its high heat durrability and cold weather starting. In our Hondas I run 5w30 or 10w40, in my 400 that we use a lot in the winter ( in MN ) I use 5-30 year around. If I were going to do a lot of hot weather riding ( 85 + ) I would use 10w40. Just my opinion!
