MOST rail in common use today is 140 LBS per yard. I just retired from CSX after 27 years of riding the rails as an engineer. You have been given some very good advice..scrap yards won't buy it without a permit because it is assumed stolen property...they won't even buy spikes and tie plates....that is why the right of ways are littered with this stuff....no salable value. better off to find some use around the farm...use your imagination, good for many things.
