My daughter bought a used 98 Honda Odessey van in 2000. It has had transmission troubles galore. She had what she thought was the Honda 100,000 mile warranty. More on this charade later. First transmission problem was that it began leaking fluid on the driveway when stopped at about 50K miles. They said it was the shifter cable hookup "O" ring and they said it covered by the warranty. This was shortly after she got it. Then after a few more miles it started leaking fluid again. This time they said it was the dip stick and they had to pull the transmission to fix it. They stuck her with a bill for $2.00 for the "O" ring and $150+ to install it. She drove it home and it still was leaking so they fixed it again. This time they told her tht they had installed the wrong "O" ring and that they would fix it. It took them about a couple of hours this time and told her they didn't pull the transmission. The leak stayed on and when she carried it back again they told her that the main case gasket between the 2 halves of the transmission was leaking and that the warranty did not cover gaskets, "O" rings and seals!Thats when she discovered the warranty was NOT from Honda. It was another company that sells warranties to dealers. She threw a @##$%^& fit and after many stupid useless conversations with the warranty company, then with everybody at Honda she finally got Honda to furnish a reconditioned transmission and she has to pay $450.00 for them to install it. Don't think she'll buy another one from them. Bottom line here is that I don't think they ever diagnosed the correct source of leakage to begin with. The car only has 78,000 miles on it now and has been faithfullly dealer serviced for what ever that is worth. Honda has had a multitude of transmission problems with these cars. Do a web search on "Honda transmission troubles and recalls". They have had some recalls for bad transmission problems. Guess the best thing that happened through all this was she did get them to take a Saturn in on trade. Gene

Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
