Hi Bill, I dunno, I guess the darned things are good enough engines. Fact is, the 310 reminds me of the 360 in a lot of ways, in the sound and the way it pulls. But the black smoke, lower compression and the pump pressure still smacks of that 282D at the same time. The last John Deere I was around was a 5020, so really can't voice an opinion on the comparison between the two makes. Allan
