The 4440 is NOT built on the same platform as a 4640 or 4840. The latter are "wide frame" tractors, the 4440 is not. The 4040, 4240, and 4440 are the same physical size, and the 4640 and 4840 are substancially bigger framed tractors. And as far as some people inferring that I am saying IH tractors are all junk, that's not at all what I'm saying. They do have some "issues" like poor arraingment of controls, lousy cabs, balky shifting transmissions, but they aren't a total waste. I just wouldn't own one....That's MY right. They're good cheap power, if you're into cheap...
