Hello Dug--In my Ford, the actuator controls all of the ignition. When it broke, turning the key didn't energize any of it. The actuator is a diecast piece that runs down the side of the column to a little electric switch that has off, on and start positions ("on" to "start" spring loaded). I dismantled the column cover to get to that switch and use a nail set to start it. (was told by Ford dealers that they don't stock that part) My point is that maybe your actuator rod isn't really broken. Good Luck ChrisH(IA)
